Kurayoshi is a new whisky brand introduced in April 2016 by Matsui Distillery. Founded in 1910 as a producer of Sake and Shochu, Matsui and its Kurayoshi Distillery are located in Tottori Prefecture, northwest of Kyoto and northeast of Hiroshima on the shore of the Sea of Japan. Over the recent years, the Matsui Shuzou Distillery has proven to be prolific in blending and aging whisky with both its Kurayoshi and Tottori product expressions and is now stepping confidently into the world of whisky distillation with its single malt collection entitled, The Matsui.
Geographically, the Matsui Shuzou Distillery resides in the foothills of Mount Daisen, a volcanic peak standing over a mile above the surrounding fertile plains packed with lush vegetation, rugged coastlines, rivers, and lakes, characterized by its delicious, fresh groundwater. The volcanic-stone-filtered spring water is used to distill their Sake, Shochu, and Whisky and bring it to proof – resulting in significant purity and unique, soft mineral composition.
The Kurayoshi Pure Malt 8 Years Sherry Cask is a blend of 100% malted barley whisky sourced from distilleries around Scotland, before being blended with Japanese Whisky. The resulting blend then matures a full eight years in white oak casks, and then finished in carefully selected ex-Sherry casks, and cut to proof with the distillery’s signature subsoil purest water. Overall, The Kurayoshi Pure Malt 8 Years Sherry Cask is a light, delicate, and sweet pure malt blend every whisky lover would admire.
Savour the taste of a serious Pure Malt with an eau-de-vie in its soul!
