An extra-luxurious blend crafted by Cellar Master Benoit Gouez, Moet & Chandon MCIII is a multi-vintage assemblage. MCIII is the fruit of 10 years of assemblage and cellar aging; it represents the pinnacle of winemaking prowess honed for more than 270 years. Immediately dubbed the most complex recipe for a prestige cuvee yet by Champagne expert Tyson Stelzer, this ultra-prestige cuvee is the result of decades of experimentation and fifteen years of hard work.
The number three in MCIII refers to its various aging universes: wood, metal, and glass. The wines of the latest harvest year (2003 in this case) are fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wood refers to oak vats, where older reserve wines (2002, 2000, and 1998) have aged. The glass, in turn, refers to bottle-matured champagnes that crown the blend (1999, 1998, and 1993). A big proportion of reserve wines and long aging result in a beautifully mature and complex, generously vinous champagne that develops majestically in the glass.
Created from more than 100 different wines, of which 20% to 30% are reserve wines specially selected to enhance its maturity, complexity, and constancy, the assemblage of Moet & Chandon MCIII Multi Vintage Champagne reflects the diversity and complementarity of the three grapes varietals:
The body of Pinot Noir: 30 to 40%
The suppleness of Pinot Meunier: 30 to 40%
The finesse of Chardonnay: 20 to 30%
