Founded in 1910 as a producer of Sake and Shochu, Matsui and its Kurayoshi Distillery are located in Tottori Prefecture, northwest of Kyoto and northeast of Hiroshima on the shore of the Sea of Japan. Over the recent years, the Matsui Shuzou Distillery has proven to be prolific in blending and aging whisky with both its Kurayoshi and Tottori product expressions and is now stepping confidently into the world of whisky distillation with its single malt collection entitled, The Matsui.
Geographically, the Matsui Shuzou Distillery resides in the foothills of Mount Daisen, a volcanic peak standing over a mile above the surrounding fertile plains packed with lush vegetation, rugged coastlines, rivers, and lakes, characterized by its delicious, fresh groundwater. The volcanic-stone-filtered spring water is used to distill their Sake, Shochu, and Whisky and bring it to proof – resulting in significant purity and unique, soft mineral composition. All expressions of Kurayoshi are non-chill filtered, with no caramel added, and bottled at over 40% ABV.
Matsui Whisky – The Tottori Blended Whisky Aged 17 Years is aged in selected barrels. This single malt expression is a product of a thorough selection of more-than-17-year-old, barrel-aged malt whiskies, masterfully blended with natural water from the soft, natural spring water from Mount Daisen, and bottled carefully with passion, love, and soul. Bottled at 50% and featuring no artificial additives or coloring added and zero chill filtration, the Tottori Blended Whisky 17 Years comes with an elegant taste, which is unique, luxurious, delicate, and bold.
Enjoy the lasting goodness and lingering aftertaste of this rare 17 year old classic Japanese whisky!
